How digitalisation is strengthening OSTP’s manufacturing operations

OSTP is strengthening its digital capabilities across the group to support quality, efficiency and sustainability in its manufacturing operations. Through investments in data, automation and AI, the company is creating new opportunities to improve processes, support employees and deliver even greater value to customers.

As a manufacturer of welded stainless steel tubes, fittings and process equipment, OSTP continuously develops its operations to meet evolving customer needs and industry requirements. Digitalisation and artificial intelligence are becoming increasingly important tools in that work, helping strengthen processes, improve access to information and support better decision-making across the business.

At the centre of every improvement are our people and our industrial expertise. By strengthening processes, improving access to data and creating smarter ways of working, OSTP is building capabilities that support both employees and customers while helping the company remain competitive in a changing world.

Turning data into business value

Over the past years, OSTP has intensified its efforts within digitalisation by expanding the Digitalisation & IT organisation, increasing the use of data-driven processes and establishing a clear AI strategy and roadmap.

Across the company, initiatives such as automation, machine data collection, digital workplace solutions, AI-supported analysis and new digital platforms are underway. The purpose is practical and business-focused: improving quality, increasing efficiency and making better use of data throughout our operations.

Anders Brännbacka, CIO, OSTP Group, says:

“We are taking a structured and pragmatic approach to digitalisation and AI. Internally, we continue to improve our processes, data quality and ways of working. At the same time, we are gradually exploring how these capabilities can help us serve customers even better and strengthen our position as a leading specialist in stainless steel solutions.”

A group-wide effort

The OSTP IT department supports the entire group and is represented across multiple locations, with team members in Finland as well as in Sweden. In addition, an international digitalisation team brings together representatives from all production sites to drive development and share knowledge across the organisation.

Brännbacka adds:
“With a geographically spread organisation, it makes sense that both our IT department and our digitalisation team are represented across our production sites in Finland and Sweden.”

Building on strong foundations

Håkan Nyström, IT Manager OSTP Group,  explains:

We continuously explore new technologies and innovations, but always with a strong focus on security, stability, and long-term reliability. By combining our industrial expertise with digital tools and capabilities, we strengthen our operations, create value for our customers, and build a solid foundation for future growth.

Brännbacka emphasises that the focus remains on practical business value:

“Our ambition is not simply to adopt new technology. It is to create practical improvements that strengthen quality, efficiency and sustainability throughout our value chain.”

Whether supporting production, improving internal processes or enabling better decision-making, every initiative is evaluated through the same lens: creating long-term value for customers and supporting OSTP’s continued development as a manufacturer of high-quality stainless steel products and solutions.

Supporting long-term customer value

Brännbacka emphasises that technology is a means rather than a goal in itself.

“At our core, OSTP is a manufacturer of welded stainless steel tubes, fittings and process equipment. Digitalisation and AI help us work smarter, but they do not change who we are. Our strength has always been the combination of skilled people, industrial expertise and a commitment to quality.”

“We will continue to explore new opportunities and technologies, but always with the same objective: creating long-term value for our customers and strengthening OSTP’s competitiveness for the future.”
